Alex Folmar is a second-generation pawnbroker from Tallahassee, Florida. His family owned business, Folmar’s Gun & Pawn, was established there by his father, Mark Folmar, in 1978. Much like his father, pawnbroking has been Folmar’s life’s work. He began working at the family pawn store as a teenager and today manages two locations and over a dozen team members. He began a full-time career at Folmar’s after graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University in 2006. Folmar is an expert watch and diamond buyer and has vast experience in the marketing and finance side of the pawn business. In addition to helping steer the family stores, Folmar is also an engaging leader in his community. He is a graduate of Leadership Tallahassee Class 37 and of the Jim Moran Institute’s Small Business Executive Program. Folmar is also on the Board of Directors for the Florida Pawnbrokers Association and a member of the National Pawnbrokers Association. When not working at the Folmar’s stores, he is most often found spending time with his family. Folmar is a proud husband to his wife Kelly and father of two children, Madison and Carter. He is an avid outdoorsman and greatly enjoys exploring the landscapes of Florida with his wife and kids. |
